In The Dark

Remember the movies in park

Holding hands in the dark

But now its Lights off

eyes shut tight

the alarm goes

and your gone

out the door

bed still warm

but your pillow

is cold

the chill puts me to sleep

church bells ring

snooze

nine minutes

of tossing and turning

lips still yearning for

the kiss you never gave

before you left

Work all day

a text to say

I love you

you get home

I walk in

you glance up

to acknowledge i’m there

tv on

dinner gone

lights off

eyes shut tight

dreaming of warm summer nights

watching movies in the park

and holding hands in the dark.
